You can send your suitcase to the next quarters in Japan while you carry on with a smaller bag. The service is also known as takkyubin. It is worth using if the reception site confirms receipt in advance, the delivery will fit into your itinerary, and you'll be there without the signed-up items. The title alone is small: we need someone to take over the package.

What I'm interested in is that the suitcase can be separated from the route. He can go where you'll spend several days while you make minor detours. Tempting opportunity, especially if the package is not just with you anymore, but requires a separate program on each step. All you have to do is plan two arrivals from there. One you have a train ticket to, the other you have a shipping bill.

What does takkyubin mean, and what do you do first?

The Japanese-guide explains that takuhaibin is a general name for parcel delivery from house to house; Takkyubin is a trademark of Yamato Transport, which is also used more broadly in everyday language. Other providers also deliver packages. In this article, we start with the verified information from Yamato, so the conditions are not automatically transferred to another company.

The first step for me would not be the fee calculator, but a message to the next quarters. Will the consignment be taken over, what name and date is it requested, and when can it be stored? If the name of the accommodation is written on a booking page differently than on your website, I would also clarify it. The courier must not find a map needle saved among my favorites, but an actual receiver.

Between Yamato hotels your 6074s on transmission connect the mail to the partner's reception and the bet to a package that can be delivered at the reception. He's asking for prior consultation with both quarters. I mean, just because something's called a hotel doesn't mean you can turn me in or take over a suitcase. Ask me specifically if they can give up and if the next place will take over your package.

The most important question is, when will you have it again?

You may arrive the next day at a useful starting point, but it is a weak foundation for a tight itinerary. The Yamato hotel's FAQ asks you to time the package on the day before your stay at the inn. Another brochure for sending to hotels and ryokans refers to a notice at least two days earlier, three depending on distance. I would not change these design allowances into a general journey time for all items.

Ask the specific place of dispatch when the delivery will take place at the specific address. And from the lodging, to see if this is the arrival they receive. If one of the answers is uncertain, leave a spare in the itinerary. Just because you're having dinner in the next town doesn't automatically put the package next to your bed.

At a one-night stop, I would especially consider sending the big bag to the same place. It may be easier to choose a later multi-night accommodation as a target and carry smaller packages for the middays. This is a design option, not a general service promise: date and prior storage must also be confirmed there.

Same-day delivery is a separate service

Yamato also offers parcel delivery on the day, but from specific dispatch points and limited target areas. The deadline for surrender and the time of arrival varies from point to point. The site also includes the possibility of delay due to weather, traffic and baggage. So from an airport arrival, it doesn't mean you can send the suitcase to any hotel that day.

Services must also be separated at the price. At the time of inspection, the package of size category 160s sent from Haneda to the 23rd district of Tokyo on that day's side of Yamato is shown as an example of 5780 yen. It's not a general Japanese suitcase store, and it's not a Tokyo-Kyoto delivery fee. The location, size and service together determine what offer you compare.

I would install the day-to-day delivery if that counter, the deadline and the reception hotel were clear. If the machine is delayed and you no longer reach the broadcast, you need a simpler sequel: take the package with you or choose to keep it on site. An early-dreaming easy day is not worth chasing all afternoon with the logistics of the suitcase.

Apartments, self check-in and convenience stores: who receives the bag?

With the apartment without reception, the key code will solve your entrance. Not necessarily your package. I'd like to check with the hostess if there's a personal takeover, and if so, when. If I don't get a clear answer to that, I wouldn't give up the suitcase and it'll just work out. Waiting outside the front door is not a good program for me; I wouldn't plan it for the package.

For Yamato's general TA-Q-BIN service, it is a special option to take over the service office. The opening of the office, the deadline for delivery and the service available there shall be checked separately. A point like this can be a good solution if it really is on the way. The suitcase on the other side of town will give you back the carry you wanted to get rid of.

And by the convenience store, don't wash up the mail and take over. Yamato's 6074s are a return option, for example, for 7-Eleven and FamilyMart if you can't send me from the accommodation. This does not mean that you can receive a package at any nearby store. The difference also came up in an apartment Reddit conversation: the speakers were stuck on the terms of taking over. It's a reading problem, an unofficial rule.

What do you write on the bill and what do you keep?

According to Yamato's contact information, a consignment note must be completed at the time of dispatch; where the simplified exhibition tool is available, a smartphone entry may also be used. I wouldn't go out of my way to make that up on the road with one hand. I would like to collect the address, contact details, reservation name and arrival date confirmed by the reception place in advance.

The booking name is particularly easy to slip: you may handle the package, but the room is registered to your partner. This relationship should be clarified at the reception desk and asked how it is requested to appear. A delivery to a completely accurate address, but not connected to the guest, may cause unnecessary search.

I'd keep the receipt and tracking ID, and I'd take a picture of the package before dispatch. This is my own practical proposal: later it's easier to talk about the same bag. The relevant data should be available on the phone, but not just at the very bottom of a long message exchange. If you need to look for something, you don't have to roll the whole trip over again.

What kind of suitcase, how much money?

The size of TA-Q-BIN is classified on the basis of the sum of the three external dimensions and the mass limit is also counted. Category 160 means a total size of not more than 160 centimetres and a maximum of 25 kg; the upper limit of the general service is 200 centimeters and 30 kilograms. If size and weight fall into different categories, the larger category shall be used. The reception limit for the specific dispatch point should still be checked.

I would therefore like the price to be charged on the actually packed bag. When comparing the fee, the same starting point, the target, the size and service. An amount included in an old roadmap is a good reminder that this solution exists. Not enough for today's offer.

To consider this, I would also like to add how many people's luggage are involved and how much of the detour due to dispatch or receipt is being made. It's not enough to watch a single package on more than one family suitcase. The value of the service may be easier to transport, but you will only get this if you do not organize another difficulty at both ends.

Don’t leave airport luggage delivery until the last morning

To send to the airport separate Airport TA-Q- BIN information is included. The basic procedure of Yamato describes two days before departure, three days prior to dispatch from certain areas, taking into account the local delivery deadline. On the day of departure, you will receive the package at the participating airport counter. The identification of the exact airport, terminal and counter is therefore part of the plan.

I wouldn't replace that with the idea of leaving the hotel in the morning, and somehow the suitcase catches up to me at the check-in. Other services may be subject to other conditions, but must be justified separately. The departure time of the flight ticket is not a flexible delivery window.

Passports, travel documents, medication regularly required and I'd like to keep enough supplies for the transition days. I'd like to put this little package together so that I can take the next section without the signed-up suitcase. If the coat is already at the courier's, the lightweight of the backpack is suddenly less interesting.

What if something can't be confirmed?

If the reception doesn't respond, I wouldn't send the package to him at random. I'd like to find another confirmed transfer point first, or keep it with me. Once you've given up and there's a problem with the tracking, we need to clear the situation with the mail ID at the service provider. I would not promise automatic return or office storage for any unsuccessful delivery: you will have to receive a reply from the specific consignment.

At a short city stop, the luggage locker will solve another task. You're going back to the same place for your stuff; you want to meet him somewhere else when you transmit it. I'd like to go first if you need a few hours of free hands. Next time, if you really don't need the big package on the next stretch of the road. None of them say there'll be room for sure at the first point.

Before we give up, I should have five things put together: who will take over, when he gets there, what name it is, how much it costs, and what will remain with me until then. If these are all right, we can split up the suitcase. I'd like to take the toothbrush out first.
