The road
01 / THE TRIP AT A GLANCE

A week at the pace of our horses.

We spend seven of the twelve days on horseback in the Kyrgyz Mountains, mostly over 3,000 meters. Each participant gets his own horse for the horseman stage. We are accompanied by a local riding guide and assistant; I will coordinate the road in Hungarian and be present as a photographer.

We sleep in the yurts of local families in the mountains. Washing facilities and comfort can be simpler, usually in yurts we'll be three to four.

Practical information
03 / TERRAIN AND PREPARATION

Several hours a day in the saddle.

Riding experience

You don't have to be a professional rider, but seven days in a row can be physically burdensome. If you have little experience, a few horsemen before departure and preferably a field ride is recommended. The pace and the faster ways of walking are decided by the local horseman.

Height and weather

A large part of the road is moving over 3,000 meters. Adequate physical condition, layers of clothing and waterproof outer layers are required. Due to weather or terrain, the daily range may vary; detailed equipment lists are given to participants.

Frequently asked questions

All 12 days on horseback?

No. The planned riding section is July 19-25, 2027, seven consecutive days. Arrival, Bishkek, travel to the starting point, cultural programs and home travel are further parts of twelve days.

Do I get my own horse?

For the seven-day stretch, each participant gets his own horse. The local rider is accompanied by a tour guide and assistant; the daily pace and faster ways of walking are adapted by the local driver to the terrain, horses and team.

Do I sleep in a separate yurt? Is there a shower?

On the mountain section, we sleep in the yurtas of local families, typically three to four. It's not his own yurt promise. Cleaning can be easier; you will be informed about the specific facilities for washing, shower and heating before departure. The need for a sleeping bag will also be clarified.

What does full board mean here?

The advertised €1650 fee includes accommodation and full board as listed in the itinerary, local transfers, horses and local guides. International flights, insurance and personal expenses cost extra. Please mention any dietary requirements when enquiring.

How am I supposed to get ready to ride?

Let's talk about your previous riding experience. With little experience before departure, I recommend horsemen lessons and, preferably, field riding. Seven consecutive days in the saddle is a load even if the pace is calm; the detailed list of clothing and packaging is agreed before departure.
